WhatsApp Update

If you are still using your old smartphone, then be careful now. WhatsApp will no longer function on most smartphones on June 1, 2025. This includes both older iPhone and Android devices. Although this service was going to be closed from May itself, it has been decided to implement it from June. Learn here which devices will stop running WhatsApp.

WhatsApp Routine Update Process

If WhatsApp is not working on your phone, don't panic! This is not a major glitch, but part of a routine update process for Meta. The company is now upgrading its messaging app WhatsApp to new technology standards so that users can get better security and latest features.

What's changed?

WhatsApp will now only work on phones running at least Android 5.1 or iOS 12. This means that if your phone is older than this, WhatsApp will stop running.

Which phones won't support WhatsApp?

If we discuss which smartphones won't be supporting WhatsApp anymore, then these iPhone models of APS are iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE (1st Gen). On the other hand, if we talk about Android phones, then it includes Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Sony Xperia Z1, LG G2, Huawei Ascend P6, Moto G (1st Gen), Motorola Razr HD and Moto E 2014.

Why was this decision taken?

All these devices are quite old and are no longer getting software updates. In such a situation, WhatsApp's new security features and updates will not be able to work properly on these phones. That's why the company is removing them from their support list.

If you get a new phone, do this work

If you are using an old phone and planning to get a new device, then first of all, back up your chats. To do this, open WhatsApp, then go to Settings. After going to Settings, click on the Chats option. Here you will see the option of Chat Backup. Back up with a Google Account. By doing this, your entire chat history will be transferred to the new phone in one click.
